Diggas With Attitude worked their way into the match thanks to Mitch Cross, Shay Millard, and Kim Weller. For Kiss My Ace, there was improved serving by Andrea Ianelli and good play by Callum Ryan.
Diggas were too strong and won the first two sets convincingly. The final set was a complete reversal with Kiss My Ace winning thanks to stronger play by Rianna Scott and Brianna Hughes. The final score was a 2-1 win to Diggas With Attitude 25-11, 25-5, 16-25. Best players were Andre, Callum, and Mitch.
There were great rallies between two in-form teams, Leftovers and Lethal Legends.
Alannah Hughes, Sean Ryan and Steve Tynan, Lethal Legends, battled hard to match it with the stronger Leftovers players in Rosanna Bruno, Kyle Newman and Skye Bloomfield.
Maria Tynan, Lethal Legends, improved as the match went on, but the difference was the serving of Rosanna and Linda Newman in this tight contest, to help the Leftovers get a 2-1 but close victory, 25-21, 25-18, 24-26.
Best players were Maria, Rosanna and Skye. Leftovers have now won every game since their round one loss to Hit Heads and are favourites to win their third competition in a row.
Vance Roaders have finally been able to get a regular team on the court towards the end of the season and played Hit Heads. Craig Cherry and Jane Wright worked hard in the first set and then teammates Col and Tori Emery started to improve their game in the second set and Carol Emery scored her first serve point for the season!
A lot of new players struggle with serving and it is good to see that towards the end of the season, they are starting to get the gist of it. However, it was the stronger net play by Narelle Ryan, Ang Franco and Tracy Catlin from Hit Heads, along with great serving by Lorraine Kefford and Declan Ryan that was the difference, winning the match 3-0, 25-21, 25-23, 25-13. Best players were Jane, Tracy, and Col.
Wednesday, May 24: 7pm Court 1 Kiss My Ace v Vance Roaders. Duty team Lethal Legends. 7pm Court 3 Leftovers v Diggas With Attitude. Duty team Hit Heads. 8pm Court 1 Lethal Legends v Hit Heads. Duty team Diggas with Attitude.
This will be the final round of the season and should be all exciting matches.
