This is exactly what two young men discovered following an incident in Narrandera on Friday night.
Police were called to a location outside a supermarket on East Street where an 18-year-old male was allegedly shouting abuse at a young female.
Officers arrived on the scene and repeatedly asked the man to stop his offensive behaviour.
However, police said he reacted in the opposite manner and tried to fight them.
A police report said he was “clearly affected by alcohol” at the time.
A 17-year-old male also became involved, shouting and acting abusively towards police.
He was placed under arrest and it was at this point the 18-year-old pushed police.
Both were subsequently arrested and taken to the Narrandera police station where they were charged.
The 18-year-old was charged with behaving in an offensive behaviour in a public place, wilfully obstructing an officer in the line of duty and continuing with intoxicated behaviour after being given a move on direction.
The 17-year-old will face charges of resisting an officer in execution of duty and behaving in an offensive manner in a public place.
