Leeton are coming off another big win after taking down Albury last weekend and have now set their sights on Wagga City.
City are currently third on the Southern Inland Rugby Union table, while the Phantoms continue to hold onto the coveted position at the top.
“City are one of the stronger teams this year,” club president Bart Challacombe said.
“They’ll definitely be a challenge, especially over there in Wagga.
“They’ve been right up there this season, so we’ll have to be on top of our game.”
Former Phantoms player Stu Dyer, who now plays for City, will face his old club for the first time on Saturday afternoon.
While Leeton’s advantage is knowing how he plays, the other side of the coin is Dyer has likely given City plenty of insight into his former club.
“He’s a very good player, but we’ve got a whole team to be concentrating on, not just one person,” Challacombe said.
Challacombe said the club was keeping a lift on their current success this season.
“We’re taking it week-by-week and not getting ahead of ourselves,” he said.
“We definitely don’t want to get carried away this early in the season that’s for sure. We can’t do that.”
