Riverina Football League clubs earned themselves a break from the field last weekend thanks to the representative game bye.
The Crows used their break to focus on fixing what has gone wrong in their game after suffering two consecutive losses to Collingullie-Glenfield Park and Mangoplah Cookardinia United Eastlakes.
This weekend they will take on Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong and will certainly be aiming to return to the winner’s list.
“You want to win every game,” coach Jade Hodge said.
“I think we’ve worked on what we needed to and we’ll come out ready to go this weekend.”
Hodge believed one of the biggest factors letting the Crows down recently was their turnovers, which teams were then capitalising on.
“That’s definitely what let us down against Collingullie and Mango,” he said.
“We made too many errors and had too many turnovers, which they would then be scoring from.
“We’ve done a lot of work on that area over the break.
“The positives from those two matches, even though we lost, was we could see where we needed to improve.
“It’s probably better it has happened now and not later in the year.”
Training has been jam-packed with more drills and game plan work over the break in order to get back on track.
“It hasn’t so much been a lot of the running and that sort of thing, but fitting more things in and working on different areas,” Hodge said.
“The boys have been working really hard, so hopefully that pays off for us this weekend.”
The Crows will host the Lions at Leeton Sportsground and will welcome back one of their Tasmanian recruits Matt Rainbird.
Rainbird had been out with concussion and will be a handy inclusion come the first bounce on Saturday.
While Leeton-Whitton finished runner-up last year, the Lions were able to shut them down in each of their 2016 meetings.
“They’ve got the wood over us, so we know they will come over here firing,” Hodge said.
“They are a very proud club, so we’ll have to be switched on from the very start.”
