Narrandera Shire Council has commissioned Matt Chun to create an ephemeral public artwork for Bolton Street. He was chosen from a field of artists who responded to a call for expressions of interest in producing and installing a large-scale work.
Consultation workshops were held and they settled on a number of actions, including an offer of subsidies to eligible businesses to support them to freshen up facades or provide free WiFi for customers.
The artwork is currently under development and will be exclusive to Narrandera. It will feature the Superb Parrot amongst an array of other birdlife found locally, and will be installed as a paste-up, with the work being printed on paper then pasted onto the wall. Mr Chun will start his installation on Monday.
The Bolton Street artwork will be placed high and span a 17-metre section of the north facing wall of the Narrandera Bakery. It will have a life-span of around six to nine months.
