Leeton returns to No. 1 Oval this weekend against the Yenda Blueheelers, with a win a must for the home team.
The Greens have won just two games this season and coach Brent Pike said a win this weekend could be the turning point they need.
“I’d say it’s pretty vital for us to win this weekend,” he said.
“We’re not happy with where we’re sitting, so we know we need to win.
“The competition is so close this year, so hopefully that works in our favour.
“We get the win this weekend and then build from there.”
In their way is Yenda, a team that Pike said was similar to Leeton.
The Blueheelers are only one point above Leeton on the ladder.
“They are a bit like us,” Pike said.
“They’ve got probably two big names and if they turn up ready to win, that’s what they’ll do.
“It’s the same for us.
“We need to be switched on and ready to go if we’re going to get the points.”
Group 20 had a bye last weekend, but the Greens kept to their training schedule.
Rhys Wilesmith (shoulder) will likely be the only out for the home side.
“I won’t be relying on any one player to stand up on Sunday,” Pike said.
“It needs to be a team thing, but I’ll be asking all of the boys to put in that extra 10 per cent.
“If we can do the basics right, stick to our structures, I think we can win.
“We don’t need to score off every set.
“It’s about sticking to our pattern.”
