While the scoreboard showed what many would have believed to be a runaway win, club president Bart Challacombe said that wasn’t necessarily the case.
“It was a bit patchy for us,” he said.
“Ag College were definitely in there challenging us throughout the game.
“It was probably just a bit disjointed for us.
“That comes down to communication and knowing and understanding what everyone else is doing in their place on the field.”
Joe Ratu was a standout again for the Phantoms, scoring four times for the home side.
Captain Bill Bevan is in awe of the Fijian flyer.
“He’s the fastest person I’ve ever seen,” Bevan said.
“He’s so quick and got a couple of good balls in space.
“He was just too quick.
“The fullback covered him well but his speed and the space he was in helped a lot.”
Challacombe also listed Bevan and Freddy Tupou as others that stood out on the day.
He said the Phantoms did have the control for most of the match despite being rusty after two weeks off.
“I thought our counter attack was very good,” Challacombe said.
“Any loose ball, it was picked up by us and then we ran away with it.
“I would say that has been one of our bigger strengths this season.
“We’re definitely happy with that aspect of our game.”
The Phantoms will be working on opening up those avenues of communication that need to be worked on at training this week.
“I think going through some set plays and lots of running (drills) will help with that,” Challacombe said.
The win has set the Phantoms up for a big clash with Waratahs on Saturday.
The club is hopeful they will have three more players back for that game.
However, representative fullback Nathan Batina is still in doubt.
The Phantoms remain on top of the ladder as the finals edge closer.
