After a draw with Wagga United last week, Leeton went down to Tolland 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Forrest Hill.
Leeton United led 1-0 at half-time, but the Wolves were able to score twice in the second half, through Jaiden O’Brien and Richard Skidmore, to register an important victory.
Leeton United captain Joey Fondacaro said the side was disappointed with the loss.
“It wasn’t the best result, especially since we were 1-0 up at half-time,” he said.
“All of the boys were disappointed with it.
“At half-time we changed the format of our game and maybe we didn’t adapt to it as well as we should have.
“I think we definitely fell asleep as well.”
Scott Munro and Carlo Trifogli played well for United.
Tolland co-coach Chris Ayton was pleased with the victory over Leeton.
“Leeton are a quality side,” he said.
”They are skillful, hard at the ball and for us, with all our players coming back over the last month, this was our first test to find out exactly where we’re at.
“So we’re pretty happy really, and to be honest, we’ve only got improvements to come.”
Bruno Andre, Kyle Harrison and Lachlan Bushby shone in a strong team performance.
Fondacaro felt United were a fit side, but said there were many areas of their game that needed polishing.
“We’ve been working on our fitness, so we probably need to make sure now that we’re all familiar with the game plan and structure,” he said.
A decision was made ahead of Sunday’s game to move the game to Forrest Hill due to the condition of Kessler Park.
