The Greens were able to sneak away with a 26-16 victory in what as a competitive match on Sunday at No. 1 Oval.
Leeton’s Anna Poulsen and Yanco-Wamoon’s Tess Staines both crossed the line twice and were stand out players for their teams on the day.
Poulsen converted both her tries and another later in the match.
Yanco-Wamoon are the big improvers of the competition this year, which has seen them match it with the Greens for the first time in many years during both derby games in 2017.
The sides have now turned their attention to their respective match this weekend where the Greens will take on the Griffith Black and Whites and the Hawks will be up against the Waratah Tigers.
Leeton’s match will be of particular interest against the Panthers, who are sitting in second. The Greens are currently third and a win could see them on level points with the Black and Whites.
Yanco-Wamoon remain in finals contention in their spot at fifth, with the Waratahs currently last on the table. The Hawks will have the home ground advantage, which should assist them on Sunday.
