It was an up and down night for the Maguire stable, which started on a bright note before finishing in injury.
Maguire prepared Quick Reflection ($22.90) to a surprise win as the rank outsider in the Southwest Stockfeeds C3-C5 Pace (2165m).
It was a family affair, with the gelding being owned by daughter Martelle and driven by son Reece.
Unfortunately, the night finished with Maguire being injured when Janes Idol, the horse he was driving, choked down and fell when leading the RH Blake & Co C0 Pace (2165m).
Maguire has bleeding around his AC in his right shoulder, which will require a few weeks of his arm being rested in a sling.
He was cleared of any breaks or fractures and any other serious injuries.
Jane’s Idol was also reported to have escaped serious injury. The race was declared a no race.
