Eid or Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting that started on May 27 and finished on June 24.
Leeton’s Muslim population gathered with a variety of other community members and the town’s multicultural group to celebrate the occasion.
Held at St Francis College on July 2, those marking the end of Ramadan cooked up sumptuous lamb and rice meal for the attendees.
Around 60 people attended, including refugees and migrants, as well as temporary residents and long-time locals.
Some of the participants included visitors from Melbourne who came to join their Leeton friends.
Leeton Multicultural Group member Robyn Gillies Tabrett was pleased the community could join together for the event.
"It is always humbling to see the friendship at these gatherings,” she said.
“Some of them have been through incredible hardship, but they are just so happy and grateful to be here.
"It is especially wonderful to see some of their families finally arriving after being separated for seven years or more."
