The club pairs continued last weekend with K Hanson & A Semmler def M Douglas & T Spadaro, giant killers B Naylor and sub P Hingston def A Smith & R Dunham (sub) and W Everett & L Maybon def T Reneker & P Townsend.
Nominations are still be taken for the Annual Bank Holiday Carnival, August 5 to 7. This event has three separate tournaments, (triples Saturday, Sunday and pairs on Monday), so nominate your teams now to avoid missing out.
Bowlers please note that nominations are also being taken for the club triples championship these close on Friday, August 11 with the first game to be played by Sunday, August 20.
LSC MEN: CONGRATULATIONS to the team from the Leeton Soldiers Club who won the Keith Farley Memorial Shield tournament held at Hay.
Team members were Mark Lemon, Dennis Dean, Greg Caffrey and Len Clare. After the traditional motivation address by Dean on arrival at Hay, the side put in a real team effort to be the only three-game winners on the day.
This meant they brought the shield back to the Soldiers Club for the next 12 months.
The semi-finals of the major-minor pairs were played on Saturday, which resulted in a win for Lemon and Garry Munro over Len Eason and John Retallick.
In the other game, John Leech and Geoff Dartnell defeated Bill Watt and Aldo Ramponi.
Only six played social bowls on Saturday. Ken O'Connell's side had a win over Luke Helson's team. Voucher winners were O'Connell, Rob Graham and Bill Kober.
INDOOR: SOCIAL indoor bowls was played at the Leeton Soldiers Club last week and numbers were slightly down due to the very cold weather.
Jim Carbone and Sam Laruffa were victorious over Joe Iannelli and Sarina Saffiotti in top division.
In bottom division it took two men Sam Papasidero and Mick Piccolo to defeat top female bowler Lena Papasidero.
The annual challenge match between Leeton and Griffith will be played at Griffith on September 17.
