Barellan and District Netball Association success NSW State Age Championships

The Barellan and District Netball Association recently capped off one of their most successful representative netball season in their six year history at the NSW State Age Championships.

Fielding 5 teams across all age groups the 12U, 13U and 14U girls played in Division 3 of the State titles while the 15U and 17U’s played in Division 2.

The 12U Barellan girls were victorious in their debut year of representative netball convincingly winning the Division 3 State Age Title, undefeated after playing an exhausting 19 games.

Coach Georgia Fuller and the girls were ecstatic with the Championship win after 6 months of hard work and dedication. The girls have now earned a spot in the highly competitive Division 2 for the 2018 season.

The 17U girls playing their last year of Representative netball for BDNA in Division 2 were celebrating their success in the State Championships held in June.

The girls finished 4th on percentage with only 1 point between them and the Runner-Up position. The teams Coach Rosemary Clarke also guided the girls to the Division 1 Grand Final in the Riverina Regional League where they went down to Wagga Wagga in the hard fought final.

The Barellan 13U girls capped off their representative season with an overall 5th place on percentage in Division 3 of the State Titles.

They were only 1 win away from claiming the top spot from Nelson Bay who they narrowly went down to by 2 goals. Coach Carolyn Burgess was extremely happy with the girls’ performance, losing only 4 of their 19 games over the 3 days.

The 14U girls went into their Division 3 campaign having lost one player to injury. Coach Jodie Landy and Assistant Coach Renae Rawle did some last minute requiting to field a strong and committed side that ended their campaign finishing 14th overall. The team narrowly lost 6 games by 3 or less goals in this highly competitive age group.

In their last year of junior representation for Barellan, the 15U girls played in Division 2 of the State Age Championships. Under the experienced and watchful eye of Coach Karen Conlan they had a very successful campaign finishing 3rd overall on percentage having lost only 4 of their 18 games against some of the strongest teams in NSW.
