The Fivebough Wetlands will host National Tree Day on July 30, with all residents invited to attend to do their bit for the environment.
The planting of native trees will occur from 7.30am to 10am and, as an added reward, participants will enjoy a free breakfast and morning tea.
NSW Department of Industry – Lands and Forestry natural resource management project officer Bec Byrne thanked the many organisations involved in bringing the day together.
“The day is a great opportunity for residents to celebrate National Tree Day and get involved in improving one of Leeton’s most spectacular natural features,” she said.
“We have over 800 native trees to be planted which will enhance and expand the woodland area of the ecosystem, providing future habitat and forage for so many significant species of the reserve.” The site is 2WD accessible via Gibbs Road, off Fivebough Road. To register call 6960 1343.
