Leeton-Whitton have put the rest of the Riverina Football League competition on notice in the past fortnight by defeating the Wagga Tigers and then Collingullie-Glenfield Park last week.
The Demons had been undefeated to that point and the Crows are hopeful their form continues on Saturday at Leeton Showground against Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes.
It will be another big challenge for the third-placed Crows. who sit one game behind the Goannas on the ladder.
Coach Jade Hodge said it was vital his team continued to put together four quarters of solid football.
“The last two weeks we’ve really started to click … all of the work we’ve put in, especially when it comes to our structure is paying off,” he said.
“I think the other thing that has been helping is we are videoing our games.
“We try to set aside 15 to 20 minutes each week now where myself and Daniel Muir (assistant coach) go over parts of the match from the weekend.
“It really helps the boys to see what we’re doing right and what could be improved.
“It’s not just us trying to explain something, they can see it for themselves.”
Leeton-Whitton are expecting to take a similar side from the Demon’s game into the weekend’s match.
With the game looming as another big hit out and the Crows hosting their sponsor’s day on Saturday, the crowd can expect a close match.
Last time the two teams met, it was the Goannas who came away with the upper hand.
Hodge said Leeton-Whitton’s inaccuracy in that match had cost them. “We were a bit inaccurate last week as well, so we’ve been working on that,” he said.
“They are a quick team and like to spread out, so we will need to counter that.” With this year’s side a youth of mix and experience, Hodge said he was impressed with how the young brigade was standing tall.
“Hugh Collins at just 16 has really cemented his spot down back, which is great,” he said. “Tyh Evans is another one and Mason Dryburgh in the ruck has been crucial for us this year.”
