He said the game was a must-win, but United will have to do it without several key players.
Carmelo Trifogli copped a two-game suspension this week after he was given a red card for swearing during last weekend’s 6-2 loss against Henwood Park.
In more bad news, full back Nick Trifogli is out for the next four weeks with a suspected torn hamstring.
Key players Adam Raso and Julian Mandaglio were due to undergo a fitness test on Thursday night at training.
“They will only be selected if they pass that test,” Trifogli said.
“It’s a crucial, do or die game for us.
“We need to win, so we need to give ourselves every chance of doing so.”
Last time the two teams met the game ended in a 1-all draw.
United haven’t won a match since before the start of the first round and, although they still remain in fourth position on the Football Wagga ladder, a win would help give them a boost.
“We’re two points ahead of Cootamundra at the moment, so a win would help give us a bit of clearance between us and them because they’re fifth,” Trifogli said.
“While we have been let down by suspensions and injuries, we still want to finish in at least second or third.
“Our discipline is what’s letting us down at the moment, so we do need to get that sorted out.”
With United searching for their first second round win, Trifogli said the mood around the team remained positive.
“We’ve spoken about it … we know we have the potential, it’s just about having it all come together,” he said.
“There can be no more silly mistakes or suspensions.
“We have to keep ourselves in check and go with what the referee says.”
The side has been training hard in the lead up to Sunday’s clash with Cootamundra.
Trifogli said returning to the MIA Sports Ground would also give the side a boost and was hopeful that advantage would assist in leading to a win.
First grade will kick off at 3pm.
