The town is set to host its second Chill and Grill event on October 21, with the aim of showcasing the shire’s food, produce, wine and more.
Not only will residents be able to sit back, relax and eat like kings and queens, but they will also be able to find out how they can use this produce themselves at home.
Chill and Grill will be held as part of the Taste Riverina Festival and celebrity chef Paul West will again be making an appearance.
“I think he was really impressed with what he saw when he came down for it last year,” organiser Matt Gatt said.
“This time around he’s planning to spend more time in our area.
“It’s great to have him on board again.”
An information night has been held for prospective stallholders for this year’s event, which will also team up with the Leeton Farmers Market.
Many have already signed on to take part, including the town’s two wineries, Barellan Beer and other tasty food stands.
“There’s already a bit of competitiveness among them too, which is great,” Mr Gatt said.
“They are all trying to outdo each other with their creations.
“It’s going to be a really great day.”
Last year’s Chill and Grill had the ideal weather, with many residents taking the opportunity to soak up the sun, food and company.
Mr Gatt said there were many surprises in the works for the event and encouraged residents to lock the date into their calendar.
“We’ve got a lot planned … we want to make it even better than last year, if that’s even possible,” he said.
“There will be something for everyone. It’s for all ages and a family event.
“Many of the stallholders will be offering kids options, which is something we didn’t really have last year, so we’ve listened to the feedback.”
There is still time for prospective stallholders to register a stand for the event.
“We want Mountford Park to be full,” Mr Gatt said.
“The idea is people will spend the afternoon there and then hopefully continue on into the main street to our pubs and restaurants to keep the festive mood going.”
The Chill and Grill event will be held from 11am to 3pm on October 21 at Mountford Park.
