Griffith hospital issues close to home
We at Leeton can completely understand the disappointment with current slaughter of the pathology services at GBH, and the sneaky way all Riverina health issues are managed.

We at Leeton have endured a similar centralist attitude by Griffith to our small town, with services cut "to provide better services" from Griffith. Sound familiar?
Griffith, including its medical and Council people have actively participated in denying Leeton residents proper hospital medical care by taking former Leeton services to Griffith.
The deceit is being repaid to all Riverina residents, unless of course you live in or closer to Wagga.
How can you continue to let your local state member continue to have any reasonable profile as he continues to support this murder in the bush - he is a disgrace to his city and the local, so called, represented area, and should be continually exposed for his fraud on electors.
What your paper also neglects to stress is that a lot of Leeton pathology is/was transported to Griffith for assessment and it too will now be sent to Wagga, thus downgrading the response times, especially in critical cases.
Griffiths leaders payback for being short sighted and insular has just arrived.
We feel sorry for the clinicians and other staff involved, but Council and community should remember the word "karma".
John Chant, Leeton.
Time to get a grip
Just an idea for the next Federal election.
Let's off load the majority of hangers on already there in government and start a new party.
We could call it the Australian Constitutional Party for Australians overseen by Australians.
We could invite back Peter Costello as PM, John Howard as Treasurer, Peter Dutton as deputy PM, Warren Mundine, Cori Bernardi, Mark Latham, Pauline Hanson and Tony Abbott on the front bench keeping the opposition in order.
Ah! yes this would be in our nations best interest, honesty would be allowed to prevail.
Add to this new blood standing in all electorates but only those willing to serve in accordance with Australian values and standards, not ordered about by minority groups peddling causes irrelevant to the running of a nation.
Such have been allowed to gain too much unfavourable power (in high places).
Time to remove them from their perch and get back to running our nation on commonsense Constitutional values and laws set down with careful (in advance) wisdom and judgement.
Time to get a grip.
Yvonne Rance, Griffith.
Good meat, bad meat
An open letter to all restaurateurs, chefs, hospitality workers and cooks – we need to talk about pigs and what they can and can’t eat.
So now you’re probably asking, why are we talking about pig diets?
Well, here at Animal Health Australia we are calling on your support to carefully consider the leftover food stuffs that you may be providing to someone for pig feed.
By providing human food scraps to pigs you may inadvertently be providing swill which is dangerous and illegal.
Swill is food waste containing, or having been in contact with meat.
These food products may contain devastating exotic disease-causing organisms that cause diseases like foot-and-mouth-disease (FMD). Australia has strict laws controlling collection, storage, treatment and disposal, so food businesses need to know what food products are acceptable to supply to livestock owners as animal feed.
