Hundreds of residents are expected to turn out for the school’s biennial Parkview in Lights event, which this year has the theme of “A World of Wonder”.
Each year group will be hitting the stage at the Leeton High School multipurpose centre, as well as the junior and senior dance ensembles and choir.
While there will no doubt be rousing performances from all involved, there was also a serious side to the event.
“Our teachers have tried to pick something that goes with the theme, but something that also be discussed in the classroom as part of the curriculum,” Parkview Public principal Travis Irvin said.
“As an example stage three have a Rowan of Rin performance and they’ve been looking at that literature in class.”
Other performances will include favourites from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Trolls and Where the Wild Things Are.
Parkview in Lights is held every second year as part of Education Week in the off-year from the Leeton Community of Public Schools performing extravaganza – Shine.
Mr Irvin said there had been a whole-school effort in bringing this year’s concert together.
"Our parents and P&C have pulled out all the stops again in terms of our costuming, stage designs and props,” he said.
“Staff have also put in a big effort to make sure it’s a show for everyone to enjoy.
“The kids are all getting very excited as well.”
Parkview in Lights is particularly quite the big deal for the school;s dance ensembles and choirs.
“It’s what they work towards for about seven months,” Mr Irvin said.
“For them it’s a culmination of all of the hard work they have been putting in.
“All of our students are taking part as well with their class groups.
“It’s a great way for some of those kids who aren't necessarily that comfortable in performing on stage to do something fun with their friends and not have to be worried about it.
“It’s a confidence building thing, as well as showing off many weeks of hard work.” Rehearsals have been underway for some time and audience members can expect a fun and energetic show.
The matinee performance will be held on Thursday at noon, with the evening show at 6.30pm at the LHS MPC. Tickets are free, but should be reserved by phoning the Parkview front office.
