SUBJECT selections for 2018 preliminary courses were duly completed promptly and in abundance.
Leeton High School is committed to using its “Gonski money” to provide a wider curriculum and additional staffing to provide greater subject choice, smaller classes and a timetable that we feel is more conducive to deeper learning.

THE Eisteddfod is underway and signers crashed through the Roxy doors to claim braces of both first and second Places in five events.
Thanks to Bec van den Heuval for her unwavering commitment to our vocalists at Leeton High School.
Inspired by this, the under 15 girls basketballers won their CHS Knockout Gala Day event on Wednesday under the coaching of Robyn Locke.

AS THIS column was bring written, some year 8 girls visited acting principal Andrew Morschel’s office to seek advice about people adding them on SnapChat and asking them to send inappropriate photos of themselves to the sender.
If you are not sure what to do in a situation always find a responsible adult and ask.
The police information line confirmed the following advice:
- Unfollow/ block them.
- Telling them you will contact the police if they continue to send such messages.
- Record their username (or take a screenshot)
- Let your friends know to unfollow/ block them
- Contact the police if it continues.
- Don’t “follow” anyone you don’t know
Feel free to pass this on to the young ones you care about. It takes a village to raise a child.

WITH LHS Fest fast approaching on August 30, the music department is busy making preparations for Leeton Idol, which will be the afternoon entertainment for the day.
Auditions to be held in the coming week.
This year’s show promises to be another exciting one with many acts over a wide variety of styles from a large range of students.
Who knows, some teachers may even take to the stage again, though probably not in lycra like last year.
In Leeton Idol the audience vote for their favourite acts.
The winners in each category get cash prizes, so it’s a great incentive to get up on stage.
LHS Fest bands ($35) are now on sale and can be paid for at the front office.

ON AUGUST 8 the school vocal ensemble and the ukulele group “Ukes Of Hazzard” took to the stage at the Roxy Theatre to compete in the 2017 Leeton Eisteddfod.
It was a successful day for both groups with a total of four pennants – two first places and two second places from a total of five performances.
The vocal ensemble placed first in the high school choir championship and the A Capella Group. They were second in the vocal group 18 years and under, while the Ukes Of Hazzard placed a close second with their earnest rendition of Imagine by The Beatles.
Congratulations to the 19 students who have only really rehearsed hard this term due to the Legally Blonde taking up most of our time for the first half of the year.
