BEING the final round of the regular competition with a top of the table clash between Phantoms and Cootamundra, the Leeton players were very eager to set their dominance.
The Phantoms went into the game knowing that a win could give them the minor premiership, and a loss or draw, would give them outright second.
Phantoms started very strong posting two tries in quick succession only for Cootamundra to come back with two tries before half-time. Not before a gallant effort in defence holding out a strong Cootamundra.
The second half was very similar to the first with two tries each being scored to end the game four-all.
The positive thing to come out of the game was Phantoms crossed the line in the game another three times compared to Cootamundra, but unfortunately, the three tries were disallowed due to a knock on and stepping on the side line just before scoring.
This effort certainly gives Phantoms the confidence they need for the finals series should they meet Cootamundra in the grand final.
However, the Phantoms firstly need to concentrate on this Sunday’s semi-final against Young Green, needing a win to progress through to then play the winner of Griffith Black and Young White for a spot in the grand final against Cootamundra.
Overall, it has been a great effort by the Phantoms under 10s in the regular competition with 12 wins, three draws and one loss.

VIVA 7 UNDER 13
THE Viva 7 under 13s certainly saved their best games until the final gala day for the year.
Coming up against some tough opposition in Albury and Tumut, the girls put in a lot of effort only going down 5-0 in their games.
This was a huge improvement on the start of the season and having no subs in either game showed their tenacity.
Chelsea returned to Vivas after a broken foot pre-season to play her first games of the comp. She slotted into the team as if she’d always been there and worked hard in attack and defense.
Fantastic cover defence was shown by our pocket rocket Caitlyn who saved a number of possible tries with her speed.
Sarah, Georgie and Asha showed commitment by chasing down the opposition and not giving up.
Great attacking play was shown by Hayley and Tahlia taking the ball forward at pace. Indie came into the second game to help out after we lost Sarah to a leg injury at the end of game one. She showed no fear in either attack or defence against girls double her age.
A special mention to Hayley and Tahlia who ably represented the Phantoms in an inaugural Riverina v South West Slopes Viva 7s game.
Joining forces with Albury, Hay, Griffith and Wagga the girls played their hearts out eventually going down by two to the combined force of Young, Tumut, and West Wyalong.
Well done to all the Phantoms girls on an excellent season of Viva 7s. The improvement shown over the year is a credit to you all.
Unfortunately injury had plagued us during the year and whilst we gained Chelsea and we had lost both Grace and Alayna mid way through.
