Ms Carter lives on the Yanco Creek about 15 kilometres from Narrandera and she is set to launch her latest book in Leeton at the town’s Festival of Audacious Ideas event next month.
It was 10 years ago that Ms Carter first started writing. Prior to that she was a production assistant for Film Australia. She has raised five children.
Ms Carter moved to Narrandera with her husband in 2015 and the pair are now following their dream of breeding Corriedale sheep.
Her new book Prodigal Daughter will be one many enjoy and Ms Carter was looking forward to bringing to audiences for the first time in Leeton as part of the festival.
The festival is a new initiative this year and will include an array of events, covering many different interests and ideas.
Ms Carter’s launch will also celebrate National Reading Hour.
“I am inspired by country people,” she said. “They are genuinely good people.
“Maybe it’s the contact with animals that does it. I can see … what a wonderful effect contact with animals has.”
The book launch will be held at the library on September 14.
“So, which is best, reading or writing?” Ms Carter asked. “Come to the library at 4pm (on that day) and find out.”
