United rode a pair of blinding long-range goals from Adam Raso to a 2-0 lead in the first-half, and looked to be in control at the break.

But Jaguars captain Adrian Merrigan lit a fire under his men at half-time and they responded in a major way, dictating the game for most of the second stanza.

The shift in momentum quickly translated onto the scoreboard, Junee’s Lochlan Philipse darting down the centre of the pitch, beating a pair of defenders and tucking the ball under the keeper.

The home side then had a series of chances to equalise, including a pair of opportunities manufactured by Merrigan, but could not take advantage.

The Jaguars leader said he was proud of his side for fighting back in the second-half.

“At half-time I said to the lads to keep going and to take it up another notch,” he said.

“We could tell Leeton weren’t comfortable and we tried to take advantage of that.

“We were pretty unlucky not to get the draw.”

Leeton coach Mick Doolin credited defenders Joey Fondacaro, Scott Munroe and Nick Trifogli with holding off Junee’s late advances.
