Miss Vitelli grew up in Leeton before moving away for study and was often asked what her childhood in the small town was like.
“When I moved away people would always ask this exact question with a bit of a ‘pity’ tone, but all I could respond with was ‘it was great’,” she said.
“I was close to my family and my friends all the time. We made our own fun getting outside playing games, making new friends playing sports and working after school.
“Everyone knew who everyone was, so it had a great community feel to it.”
Growing up around her family’s business – Sam’s Tiles and Lights – Miss Vitelli knew she always wanted to do something in that kind of field.
This led her to tertiary studies in business and marketing, with the time away from Leeton allowing her to experience different professional roles and build a passion for that area of expertise.
Miss Vitelli now handles marketing and sales at her family’s business.
“It’s a real privilege to come back to my home town and use my professional experience in our own family business,” she said.
Outside of work, Miss Vitelli enjoys spending time with her family, friends, exploring the region and being part of a variety of community groups.
:As soon as I moved home my mum encouraged me to get involved with the Leeton Chamber of Commerce and Industry on behalf of (Sam;s Tile and Lights),” she said.
“I have been involved with the chamber for the last five years, with two years as president.
“When first moving home it really helped me get involved in the community, meet people and do different things.
“I love running promotions and events.
“I have made some really great contacts with my involvement with the chamber and used my experience to help facilitate some great initiatives.”
Miss Vitelli was also the chairman of The Friends of the Club committee for the Leeton Soldiers Club when it was in trouble.
Miss Vitelli said one of her favourite things about Leeton was its history.
“It’s that sense of history of how the community began that creates a vibrant and endearing community spirit we still have 100 years on,” she said.
The town’s biggest strength, according to Miss Vitelli is its diversity.
“In schools, sporting groups, interest groups, community groups, businesses, farming/industry,” she said.
“Everywhere you look there is something going on and a great group of people behind it making it happen.”
Miss Vitelli would love to stay in Leeton for many years to come.
“My fiancé and I love the thought of having our family grow up in Leeton, being around our extended family and enjoying this community lifestyle as we did growing up,” she said.
