WHAT better way to raise some money than by throwing on a pair of joggers and getting smothered in all of the colours of the rainbow.

That’s the idea behind the St Joseph’s P&F major fundraiser for 2017, with the organisation hosting a community colour run in November.
All residents are invited to attend whether you have an affiliation with the school or not.
There will be colour stations throughout the course at the St Francis College oval, as well as music, entertainment, plenty of food options and much more.
P&F president Antoinette Cross stressed the idea was to get the whole shire involved in the event.
“I think we had seen previous communities do it and we were just looking to do something different for the school,” she said.
“Something that is different, something that is fun and something that is for everyone.
“We want it to be a really family-oriented day, but if you’re a serious runner of course you are welcome to come along as well.
“We want as many people to be involved as possible.”
A colour run is an untimed event where participants run or walk their way around the designated course.
Throughout their trek they are periodically doused in bright colours, with participants encouraged to wear white to show off just how much they get covered on the day.
The St Joseph’s P&F is also looking into having some obstacles along the way as part of their course.
“It’s also a really good way to link up St Joseph’s and St Francis,” Mrs Cross said.
“We just want it to be known again that this is for everyone.
“For it to be a success, we want to really put it out there to a wider community.”
All proceeds from the day will be going directly back to the P&F, which will be used for upcoming projects at the school, as well as staff and student resources.
The warm weather will hopefully ensure a top day for everyone to head out, do a bit of exercise and enjoy the event together.
“Leeton hasn’t had one (a colour run yet),” Mrs Cross said.
St Joseph’s principal MaryJane Simms has already been used as a test dummy for the colour and how well it sticks.
“I think just the name itself – colour run – works in our favour,” she said. “People know what it is, people know what to expect, so it should be great.” Entry forms are available at St Joseph’s, Studio 9 Fitness and Antoinette’s Showcase Jewellers for those wanting to take part.
The event will be held on November 12 from 9am for a 10am start. Those who get in and register now will receive an early bird discount.
