Liz Munn, Eliza McCormick, Clare Hillman and Isabella Mercuri underwent their final interviews last week and on Friday night one will be crowned the Leeton Showgirl.
Far from a beauty pageant, Showgirl entrants are required to have knowledge and a genuine interest in rural NSW and their home town. It also encourages participation and awareness of issues faced by women in rural areas.
Leeton Showgirl co-ordinator Melina Mandaglio was excited by this year’s competition.
“They are very high quality entrants,” Miss Mandaglio said. “Three of the girls are under the age of 21, so it is quite a younger audience this year.
“That age group is still here, taking a gap year or working in town.”
The Leeton Showgirl will be named on Friday evening, along with Miss Teen Showgirl (13-17 years).
Entries in the four other Leeton Showgirl categories - Miss Junior Showgirl (10 to 12 years) and Miss Sub-Junior Showgirl (six to nine years), Miss Tiny Showgirl and Best Beau (three to five years) - will be taken on Saturday at the showgrounds, with judging interviews shortly after.
