Mayor Paul Maytom conducted the citizenship ceremonies, with Bulou Baravilala, (Fiji), Gurgreet Singh (India), Zoreen Khan (Fiji) and Najibullah Noori (Afghanistan) now official Australian residents.
“It was a great feeling for these people,” councillor Maytom said.
“As a council we are only to happy to conduct these ceremonies.
“It’s a fantastic thing for our shire.”
Cr Maytom said multiculturalism was important and residents needed to be aware of the good new citizens were doing in the shire socially, economically and in other important ways.
“We are proud to be a multicultural shire,” Cr Maytom said.
