It was always going to be a tough task for the Colts missing captain Jarryd Day and Josh Carn and after winning the toss and electing to bat the Carpheads made the most of the conditions with Jono Doyle (45) and Ryan Argus (12) able to get their side off to a strong start.
The pair put on 48 before Argus was caught by Billy Conroy off the bowling of Danny Maskill (2/45), but it did little to slow the scoring from the Narrandera side as Jarrod Lane kept the scoring ticking along.
It would be another 32 runs before the Colts were able to take another wicket as Lane fell to the bowling of Sam Cooper (2/43) before Brent Lawrence (0) was trapped in front by Conroy (1/22) to leave Narrandera at 3/81 just past the halfway mark in their innings.
The fall of captain Lawrence saw Jacob Anderson come to the crease and he tried to form a partnership with Doyle before two quick wickets saw Doyle finally dismissed followed shortly after by Rohan Rehwinkel (6).
Anderson was able to make a partnership with James Sullivan (10) which helped push his side towards what should be a competitive total.
The Sullivan and Anderson partnership of 60 runs saw the Carpheads reach 159 before Sullivan was caught by Mackenzie Saddler off the bowling of Alex Crelley (1/28).
Anderson followed soon behind after he became the second of Maskill’s victims to leave Jarrod O’Brien (6*) and Luke Argus (6*) to close out the innings and set the Colts a tough task of 177 of their 40 overs to win.
Dylan Barnes (11) and Rhys Carroll (1) tried to get the Colts chase started on the right foot.
The pair lifted the side to 18 before Barnes was dismissed by Rehwinkel who turned into chief destroyer as the Colts failed to mount any real challenge.
The Colts would lose their last nine wickets for just 19 runs with Cooper the only Colt to make any real impression scoring eight runs.
Rehwinkel finished the day with five wickets for 14 runs off his eight overs as Saddler (1), Jake Shelton (2), Conroy (2) and Carroll fell in quick succession.
Anderson (2/2) carried over his good performance with the bat to take the wickets of Nathan Carn (0) and Crelley (1). Lawrence (2/1) also picked up two lower-order wickets of Maskill (0) and Bryce Butler (0) to close out the innings as the Colts were dismissed for 27 in 23 overs.
The Colts now have the bye next weekend while Narrandera will take on L&D at Mark Taylor Oval.
