Police were patrolling the area on Banksia Avenue when there saw smoke rising in a front garden.
On close inspection, they discovered a Mitsubishi Pajero alight in the yard.
They proceeded to wake up the 52-year-old woman to alert her.
Attempts were made to extinguish the flames with a garden hose, but the fire Brigade later attended to put the blaze out.
Inspector Kim Traynor said police were making further inquiries.
