The Leeton RSL Sub-branch hosted 40th anniversary reunion for Vietnam War veterans on October 27, 28 and 29.
People came from across the country to attend a raft of events over three days.
Reunion activities included social get together on Friday evening, followed by the march from the Leeton Post Office to the memorial at the Leeton Soldiers Club.
It was a really happy, great get together. Everyone had a really good time.
- John Power, Leeton RSL Sub-Branch President
It marked the anniversary of the first reunion held in Leeton 40 years ago.
RSL Sub-branch President John Power said the weekend had been enjoyed by all.
“We marched off at 4:30 in the rain, but we’ve all been wet before so nobody was worried,” he said.
“A lot of the town went out of their way to make is successful for it … everyone said it was great.”

“They came from everywhere. We had people from Tasmania, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney… we had them from all around.”
He thanked council and a number of groups who came together to make the weekend possible.
“Yanco Agricultural high school served the meal for us. The kids were very professional. Everyone was impressed.”
As part of the memorial service, a wreath was laid to commemorate fallen comrades.
It was a time to reflect and remember, but it was also a time to catch up with old friends.
“It was a really good, happy get together.”
Rounding out the celebrations will be a night to recognise 100 years since the Charge of Beersheba at the Leeton Soldiers Club on Tuesday October 31.
