Leeton Basketball Association junior report

SOME astonishing finishes highlighted a thrilling evening of LBA Girls’ Basketball on Monday night.

In A Grade Mikayla Jones dropped a shot with less than a second left on the clock to force a draw for White in their huge match up with Leeton Toyota. Earlier, 20 points from Giordan Pastro helped White set up a three quarter time lead before a huge last quarter from Abby Favell (18) seemed to have stolen the game for Toyota prior to Jones’ last second heroics. The other A Grade game saw Olivia Mitchell top score with 20 as Anytime Fitness defeated Country First despite 15 from Holly Sheldrick.

In B Grade Georgia Mallamace led all scorers with 14 as Warbah accounted for Celi’s Buses while Claire Diebert and Ashlea Hatwell both starred as Thinkwater won their second game in a row at the expense of Eagles.

C Grade was also full of thrilling games, with Kurrajong Shell shading Country First by just two while Sophie Scalora hit 11 points for Anytime Fitness as they defeated C&A Plumbing by 10.

LBA Girls action continues next Monday with the second last round before the playoffs start November 27.
