After the Colts won the toss and sent the Carpheads into bat, they made a quick start with Billy Dickinson (1/44) taking the wicket of James Sullivan (1) while Nathan Carn (3/25) took the wicket of Jacob Anderson (0) to have Narrandera struggling on 2/11 after eight overs.
When his team needed him most, Lawrence duly delivered and in partnership with Ryan Argus (18) the pair were able to lift the side with a 31-run partnership before Argus was trapped in front by Alex Crelley (1/25).
Lawrence found another partner in Mick Foster (25) and the pair were able to get their side on the way to a defendable total with a 50-run partnership.
The pair got the Carpheads to 92 before Todd Pattison (1/31) struck to remove Foster after he was caught by Jarryd Day which brought Sam Argus to the crease.
Lawrence continued on his way to a big total while Argus plodded away until he became Carn’s second victim with the score on 114.
Lincoln Gooley (10) came and went after contributing at almost a run-a-ball with Lawrence pushing the scoring rate along in a quick 47-run partnership with Luke Argus (6).
Mark Burns (3/29) saved his best for the end of the innings picking up Argus, Lawrence, after a well compiled 96, and Cooper Irons (0) with the last three deliveries of the innings to finish with a hat-trick and to see Narrandera finish their 40 overs on 9/177.
It was a slow start for the Colts as Mackenzie Saddler (4) was caught behind off the bowling of Mark Tilyard (3/25), and Burns (0) was bowled by Cooper Irons(1/22) within two overs to be 1/4.
Carn and Day were left to try and resurrect the innings for the Colts and provided a platform for their side with a 66-run partnership.
When Carn fell to the bowling of Jack Williamson (1/24) with the score on 70, Sam Cooper joined Day looking to continue their side’s push towards the total requiring 107 runs off 140 deliveries.
Unfortunately for the Colts, when Cooper fell to the bowling of Foster (3/19), they lost three wickets for nine runs with Alex Crelley (0) and Dickinson (1) following Cooper back to the stands.
Day tried to keep the score moving in a positive direction but finding a partner to stick around with him was becoming an issue.
Todd Pattison (6) was the only Colts lower order batsmen to score before he became Tilyard’s second victim of the day with Angus Crelley (0), Jake Shelton (0) and Matthew Drinan (0) falling without troubling the scoreboard.
When Drinan fell to the bowling of Anderson (2/21) it brought the Colts innings to a close as they fell 48 runs short of Narrandera’s total.
