St Joseph’s Primary School said they were aiming to make the transition as smooth as possible when they hosted a BBQ for 2018’s kindergarten families recently.
Kindergarten teacher Maria Maybon said the evening was a good chance for people to get to know each other.
“It was a lovely evening and an opportunity for the parents and carers of the 2018 Kinder class to get to know each other,” she said.
“It also gave the new Kinders an extra chance to explore the playground with their new classmates.”
Principal Mrs MaryJane Simms acknowledged hard work had done in organising the evening.
“The purpose of the evening was to build community and it certainly did that. It was wonderful to see all the many smiling faces,” she said.
The BBQ was part of the school’s transition program. Future kindergarten students have attended the school each Friday.

“Many of the 2018 Kinder class have been here each Friday for transition this year, so they are familiar and comfortable with the school environment.”
