The Irrigator asked residents who they believed made the best coffee in Leeton shire and the race to the top of the poll was a tight one.
As many like their coffee in different forms, varieties and in certain ways, it was never going to be an easy task when it came to who would finish on top.
In the end, La Fresco Caffe took the crown for Leeton’s best coffee with 224 votes, closely followed by Crate Cafe on 165.
In third position was the Coffee Tree on 67 and the Golden Apple Super Store’s new coffee corner fourth wit 50 votes.
“It was awesome to see people actually love our coffee and voted for us,” La Fresco Caffe co-owner Joey Fondacaro said.
His brother, Michael Fondacaro, said given it was an online poll, the result was even more special.
“Our customer base is a lot of the older generation and they don’t get online as much, so it was really pleasing for us to know we are getting the votes from the younger support base too. We were thrilled with the outcome.”
Another factor the brothers believed assisted in giving them Leeton’s best coffee label was the fact they had recently changed the type of beans they are using to make the brews.
Known as the Prodigy Blend, the coffee has a balanced and velvet mouthfeel.
It has a bright and fruity acidity with a floral medium body, making it a unique blend of east African characteristics balanced with America’s finest.
“A lot of people loved the new one compared to what we were using,” Joey said.
“I wouldn’t say there’s a secret that goes into making a good coffee.
“There’s a lot of little things that go into making the perfect coffee. From your shot for starters, the way it pours and your milk texture is really important. You don’t want to overheat your milk.
“Some people are really fussy and there’s some really, crazy orders.
“A lot of people who come here tend to love extra hot coffees.”
For the two brothers, Joey is an avid coffee drinker, while Michael only has one on occasion.
