Leeton Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters Graham Parks, Dave Newman, Simon Jackson, Steve Alexander and Matthew Clowes attended the fires last Tuesday and Wednesday as part of Strike Team Bravo.
Captain Parks said it was a long couple of days.
"We were sent to Oura first," he said. "We were there on Tuesday and from there we were sent to Tarcutta when the fires around there blew up.
"Tuesday was a horrible day."
The Leeton firefighters were among many others who worked day and night to control the fires.
"We came back on Wednesday," Captain Parks said.
"Those fires are ones we wouldn't see around here ... it's that hilly sort of country where the fires were.
"The extreme weather we had was a big concern.
"We still had crews in town and they were out helping with the fire at Corbie Hill (Road)."
Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Greg Mullins said the organisation worked seamlessly with the NSW RFS, National Parks and State Forests during bushfire situations.
"Firefighters across the state have been working around the clock to contain bushfires still burning, and to respond quickly to new outbreaks," he said.
