Transition provides time for the young students-to-be to familiarise themselves with the school and start socialising with their new classmates, while also taking part in activities focused on fundamental learning skills.
Kindergarten teachers Jodie Boardman and Paige Frazer were impressed with how the children settled into their new environment.
"All children settled beautifully into the Parkview environment today and quickly participated in school routines," Miss Frazer said.
Miss Boardman said there was plenty of excitement from both parents and children, with the complimentary bus service a highlight.
Parents spent time in the classroom with their children, who also enjoyed lunch and time in the infants playground.
Instructional leader for literacy and numeracy Merilyn Blakeman was enthusiastic about the start of this year's program.
"It is great to have the children in the school environment," she said.
The transition program continues every Wednesday at Parkview until December 11.
