Mr Speer stars in the film Backyard Ashes, which held its world premiere in Wagga last Wednesday.
The movie was filmed and funded in Wagga, with Mr Speer excited at the prospect of his hometown being given the opportunity to watch the film.
"I'm really happy that it is being brought to Leeton for everyone to watch," he said.
"The premiere on Wednesday was unlike anything else I've ever experienced before.
"It was just amazing."
Mr Speer plays the role of Pigeon, the son of lead character Dougie Waters (Andrew Gilbert) in the film.
"Pigeon is a reclusive, he's quiet and keeps to himself," Mr Speer said.
"He's in a metal band and one of his other hobbies is being an amateur film-maker, who loves to capture all of the backyard cricket action his dad always has going on.
"I really enjoyed working on this film ... I think it's really special and something a lot of people can relate to."
Former Leeton resident Stephen Holt also features in the film, with the pair to be part of a question and answer session at Saturday's screening of Backyard Ashes at the Roxy.
They will be joined by writer, director and producer Mark Grentell.
"I would love as many people to come and see the movie as possible," Mr Speer said.
"I think most would probably leave the theatre with a smile on their face because it's quite funny.
"It's all about mateship and it's very down to earth."
Screenings at the Roxy will be held on Friday and twice on Saturday.
FOLLOWING rave reviews for the world premiere of Backyard Ashes in Wagga last Wednesday, the movie will hit Leeton's Roxy Theatre this weekend.
Leeton has two connections in the film through former residents Jake Speer and Stephen Holt, who both have roles in the movie.
Residents that enjoyed other Australian comedies such as The Castle and Bodyline will definitely enjoy Backyard Ashes, according to its creators.
Backyard Ashes was filmed in Wagga and stars Gold Logie winner John Wood, Andrew Gilbert from Round The Twist and Felix Williamson, who was in The Great Gatsby.
The movie will screen at the Roxy Theatre on Friday and twice on Saturday.
Friday's session will include question and answer time with the film's director Mark Grentell and writer/producer Peter Cox.
The Rotary Club of Leeton and the Rotary Club of Leeton Central have joined together to host a theatre party on Saturday that will include pre-movie drinks while the audience awaits the arrival of Mr Speer, Mr Holt and Mr Grentell.
The trio will be taking part in a question and answer session after the movie, with supper and bar facilities also available following the screening.
MC for the night will be Travis Irvin, with all proceeds go towards the NSW bushfire appeal.
Backyard Ashes will screen at the Roxy on Friday at 7.30pm and again on Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.
Tickets for the theatre party are available at Leeton Trophy and Gift Centre and the Roxy for $20.
