Mr Speer surprised Parkview Public School last Tuesday after contacting principal Travis Irvin to find out if he could pay a visit.
In 2003, Mr Speer was Parkview's school captain and spent his visit reminiscing about his seven years of education at PPS with the star-struck students.
Mr Speer currently plays the role of Oscar MacGuire in the long-running Australian program.
His journey to acting fame included secondary schooling at St Francis College and Kooringal High School in Wagga before graduating from NIDA.
Since then Mr Speer has juggled many projects, including several in Leeton.
His latest was the production Just Startin' Out, which was a two-man show with fellow 2003 Parkview school leader Nick Beecher.
In an entertaining chat with students, Mr Speer recounted fond memories of hosting assemblies in the library and COLA prior to the new hall being built.
Children asked many questions during the visit, with Mr Speer encouraging them to follow their dreams.
"Do what makes you happy and work really hard at it," he said.
He also spoke of choir performances at Parkview and representing the school in a range of activities, including the Leeton Eisteddfod and sports events.
To the delight of students, Mr Speer also shared memories of some of the current day teachers at the school, including Yvonne Quinlivan, Ro Tarnawsky, Ondria Miller and Travis Irvin.
