However, that is the journey former Leeton resident Kaleigh Jones has been on for some time as a Las Vegas Showgirl.
Miss Jones grew up dancing in Leeton with Di Salvatore Dance Academy.
She embarked on her professional dance career at the young age of 18, when she accepted a contract with Carnival Cruises and spent the following 10 years sailing around the globe with Carnival, along with Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas with Jean Ann Ryan Production) and the prestigious Crystal Cruises.
She has performed in 20 production shows on seven cruise ships.
These performances included several different styles from country, can can, Irish clogging, swing and disco to street tap, tango, Bollywood and even cirque-style aerial hoop. It was early in 2013 when Miss Jones transformed her sea legs into that of a classic “Vegas Showgirl”.
It was then that she joined the cast of the World-acclaimed Don Arden’s Jubilee at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
“It has always been my dream to be a Showgirl adorned in jewels and feathers,” she said.
“(I know participate in) 10 shows a week, performing featured roles in the longest-running show on the Las Vegas Strip.”
Miss Jones is the first ever Australian female to perform a lead role in the Jubilee show in its 34-year history. She is a soloist in the opening number, as well as the finale, where she descends in one of the more impressive Bob Mackie-designed Showgirl costumes.
Miss Jones’ signature role is “Deena” in Dreamgirl, which was created by Beyonce’s choreographer. She has performed this role more times than anyone else in the history of Jubilee. “It’s my personal favourite,” she said.
As a lead dancer, Miss Jones has been involved in many exciting opportunities such as performing along side Britney Spears, featured in different Las Vegas publications and also made an appearance in Celine Dion’s Be Part of the Show fan video.
Most recently she was a featured Showgirl in Olivia Newton John and Chloe Lattanzi’s music video You Have to Believe.
