Training to be part of the industry is also only for those serious about a care working with the elderly.
As a result of a recent course offered by the Riverina Community College (RCC) almost the entire class has secured either part-time or full-time employment. Students studied and completed a Certificate III in Aged Care and graduated from the program last week.
RCC business manager Vanessa Jennings said the aged care sector was forever growing and changing. She was impressed the majority of the group had found employment.
“This is an amazing outcome,” Mrs Jennings said.
“Working hard to provide local training to (Leeton shire residents) to then secure jobs is the core value of what we are trying to achieve.
“We want to make sure we have the best trained people caring for our elderly or frail.” Another Certificate III in Aged Care will begin in April.
Those that completed the most recent course under the tutoring of trainer Julie Wilson were Lynne Irvin, Alison DePaoli, Jayarna Britt, Fiona McNiff, Larissa Stevens, Skye Torbuck, Brooke Carroll and Stacey O’Loughlin.
Leeton has plenty of aged care facilities that not only provide employment in the shire, but they provide quality care. In recent years Assumption Villa has had a new facility built as has the RFBI.
