Miss Coelli held a cocktail party last Friday, with many attending to support her cause.
Held at the Leeton Jockey Club, the night included a charity auction, entertainment and plenty of mingling.
It was Miss Coelli’s major fund-raiser as part of the quest.
Next up will be a number of “tape up your teacher” events held across several Leeton schools.
The first will be held on Friday at St Francis College during lunch time.
As part of the fund-raiser, students will be invited to purchase a piece of tape for $1 to contribute to the “taping up” of a selected teacher.
Proceeds from the event will go twoards Miss Coelli’s fund-raising efforts, with her chosen charity for the quest the SteppinOut4Youth Centre.
Her Southern Cotton committee has been behind her as part of the quest.
Southern Cotton general manager Kate O’Callaghan said the company was interested in the work SteppinOut4Youth does within the Leeton community.
“We’re excited to be partnered with an organisation that shares a similar vision and passion for fostering opportunity for our youth,” she said.
“Since opening we’ve offered employment opportunities to school leavers through our annual traineeship program.
“We see this as a way of offering opportunities to young adults who are interested in working locally and Madison is one of those people.”
While Southern Cotton have made past donations to SteppinOut4Youth, Mrs O’Callaghan believed the Ambassador Quest competition had cemented a long-term partnership between the two organisations.
SteppinOut4Youth president Anna Celi was pleased the links between the two organisations continued to grow.
“We are especially looking forward to the ‘tape up your teacher’ fund-raiser as we see this as an inclusive way of giving kids empowerment in a safe and good-natured environment.” Mrs Celi said.
Miss Coelli agreed and viewed the event as one of the most important as part of the quest.
“Not so long ago, I was a school leaver looking for someone to give me a go,” she said. “I really want to include the local kids in my quest to show them that there are opportunities right here at home.”
We are especially looking forward to the ‘tape up your teacher’ fund-raiser.
