Every year the school hosts the event and 2017 will be no different.
Gala day on March 18 is the school P&C’s major fundraiser of the year and it’s open to the whole community, not just those that have or have had an affiliation with YAHS.
Every year the weekend is also used by many class groups of yesteryear to reunite, with the school’s beach carnival to also be held as part of festivities on March 17.
Organisers are promising another day full of excitement and fun for participants with everything from amusement rides, auction and a gymkhana to a shearing competition, fashion parade and poultry sale all on schedule.
P&C secretary Kerrie Johnston said adding to the fun would be each class putting on its own activity.
“The kids really get into it every year … each year group puts on an activity and there’s a bit of rivalry there to see who’s will make the most morning,” she said.
“It’s all in good fun.
“We would love to see a big crowd there.
“It’s our main fundraiser of the year.
“The money stays with the school and is allocated to whole range of things, not just for the classroom, but all the extra-curricular activities the students take part in.”
There will also be new elements to gala day this year, including a bushmen’s rally.
“We really just want everyone to come out and support us,” Mrs Johnston said.
“It’s a fantastic school and without this fundraiser there would surely be things that would miss out.”
Gala day will be held on March 18 throughout the day on the school’s grounds.
