The organisations struck a deal to match dollar-for-dollar what the club could raise and split the donation in two directions with half going to the MS Mega Swim fundraising and the other half to the swim club.
The club set to work and raised close to $4900 as part of the MS Mega Swim and put forth a powerful showing in the 24-hour marathon.
Xplore Radiology in turn presented both the MIA MS Branch and the Yanco Amateur Swim club each with cheques for $2442.
Funds for the MS Society will benefit those fighting a battle with MS through the “Go for Gold” scholarship program, which has assisted MIA residents.
The swim club will be able to use the funds to purchase supplies.
Theresa Pham, business manager at Xplore Radiology feels compelled to play an active role in Leeton.
“I think businesses need to give back to the community,” Mrs Pham said.
“There’s a push for ‘shop local’ and I think that feeling needs to be reciprocated.”
The Mega Swim raised $26,000 in total after it was held at the Leeton pool on March 11 and 12.
I think businesses need to give back to the community.
