IT MIGHT not seem like much, but throwing in some socks and jocks could go a long way to helping families of sick children.
Southern Cotton and The Coffee Tree have teamed up to promote a call out for socks and undies on behalf of an organisation known as Ward Angels.
Ward Angels assists the Westmead Children’s Hospital in many ways and this is its latest initiative – “Bless Their Cotton Socks”. The two businesses decided to support the cause as many families in the area have had to use the hospital over the years.
“When there’s an emergency in the family and you have to rush your child to hospital, the last thing you think of is socks and undies,” Southern Cotton general manager Kate O’Callaghan said.
“With so many families in Leeton having had to go to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead we thought this was a good thing to support.” Until Easter, a collection box will be placed at The Coffee Tree and in the foyer of the gin for residents to donate new and still packaged socks and undies to. The cause is already proving popular.
