The displays were deemed a massive success by Leeton Water Wheel Garden Club president Jeanine Bird.
“It was a fabulous day for people to come and check out the gardens around the area,” she said.
“We had people from as far as Tumut and Canberra apparently so that is really great.”
The popularity of the event was apparent when according to Mrs Bird the Leeton Tourist Centre ran out of books on the day and they had to resupply them.
“I think we would have had close to 400 – 450 people of the day,” she said
“Everyone found the day to be really relaxing and a great way to spend the final day of a long weekend.”
Mrs Bird said all of the stalls set up at Joy and David Lang’s garden display was really popular and the lunch was so popular they ran out of supplies.
While at Helen and Kevin Lehman’s garden Adrian Podmore was quite popular as well giving people advice on their gardens and answering any question they had for the gardening expert.
The hard work and effort all of the gardeners put into their display was noticed by all in attendance according to the club president.
She particularly pointed to the garden display from Nick and Zina Rendina as a highlight after they were late to register following a late withdrawal.
“It was a spectacular display,” she said.
“It was the type of garden where you could walk around several times and each time would notice something different.”
Mrs Bird wanted to thank all of those who provided incredible support for the event and said all proceeds raised on the day would be distributed to local charities.
After last year’s successful event, which saw the group raise around $7000, they were hoping to be able to donate a similar amount once experiences were taken into account.
