The extraordinary people who shaved or coloured and their generous sponsors have now raised an incredible $4,920,000 in NSW alone, helping to fund projects that will make a genuine difference to local families facing blood cancer.
The money will now be used to provide safe and comfortable accommodation in the city for families living in regional NSW so they can more easily access life-saving treatment.
It also means we can offer free transport, counselling, information and practical support to the 60,000 Australians living with a blood cancer.
Meanwhile, researchers funded by our supporters are working tirelessly to discover safer and more effective treatments. Although their critical research is improving survival rates, sadly an Australian still loses their life to blood cancer every two hours.
But thanks to those taking part in World’s Greatest Shave, we are well on our way to reaching our goal of $5.6 million in NSW.
There is still time for people to sign up or make a donation at www.worldsgreatestshave.com.au.
Thanks to you, the Leukaemia Foundation will be able to help more Australians with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related disorders survive and live a better quality of life.

Fatality Free Friday
Leeton residents have been urged to pledge their support for road safety ahead of Fatality Free Friday, the nation’s largest community-based road safety initiative, on 26 May.
More than 200 regional events will be held across the nation ahead of and on Fatality Free Friday. The events allow local road users can sign the pledge in person and acknowledge the important role each individual plays in stemming the road toll, which last year claimed 1300 Australian lives.
An initiative of the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ASRF), Fatality Free Friday aims to create a culture where road users not only take responsibility for their own decisions.

Council budget clarification
To correct the budget articles published recently.
Leeton Shire Council receives around $3.6 million per year via the Financial Assistance Grants which under prior arrangements were indexed each year to keep pace with inflation and other cost pressures.
A Federal Government budget saving initiative was that these assistance grants were frozen and not indexed from the 2014/15 Federal Government Budget through until 2016/17 budget.
The removal of indexation was estimated to have cost Leeton Shire Counci around $600,000 over the last three years, not $3.6 million as reported.
Leeton Shire Council was buoyed to hear the budget announcement for 2017/18 that the annual indexation of these vital grants will now resume.
Leeton Shire Council fully supports the efforts of the Australian Local Government Association and Local Government NSW who are advocating to return the total of the Financial Assistance Grants funding to a level equal to or at least 1 per cent of Commonwealth tax revenue.
Cr Paul Maytom, Leeton Shire Council Mayor.
