The Hyundai Santa Fe was parked on the front lawn of a Yate Road property when it was stolen sometime between 7pm Sunday and 6am Monday.
The owner of the vehicle reported it missing to police, but its fate was already sealed.
A member of the public phoned in a vehicle that was well alight on a dirt access road to Toorak Road.
Leeton’s NSW Fire and Rescue service attended and put out the blaze, but the car was gutted and ruined.
Police are investigating the theft, but have called on the community to come forward if they noticed anything odd between those hours.
Residents with any information should contact Leeton police on 6953 1399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
