In what was always going to be a tough match, the Hawks were hoping to get a win on the board following the bye for the long weekend.
However, it wasn’t to be as the Roosters got away to a quick start, with the final scoreline reading 42-18 in their favour.
In further bad news for the Hawks, Gerard Ah-Nau was injured in the match, requiring head scans at hospital, but all signs have come back clear.
It is likely he will now miss this weekend’s coming encounter with the Greens in the local derby.
It was another blow to the Hawks on the day against the Roosters, who continued their strong start to the season.
They are the team that has conceded the least points to any other side so far this year.
The loss has now placed the Hawks sixth on the ladder. Yanco-Wamoon will now use this week to regroup ahead of the derby at Leeton on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams will have plenty to play for, including keeping their finals chances alive, as well as the Frank Fiumara Cup.
