THE Club Major Pairs Championship was finalised two weeks ago with T Barnes and H Ahern doing battle against K Hanson and A Semmler. Barnes and Ahern played great bowls to take an early lead but the older and experienced pairing of Hanson and Semmler saw them regain the lead and come away with a well-deserved win. Congratulations to the new club champions Hanson and Semmler.

The Annual Bank Holiday bowls carnival was contested last weekend with a good turnout of local and interstate bowlers. Saturday’s triples event was played in beautiful conditions with the winners being a Narrandera team consisting of R Durnan, S Zac and B Russell who defeated local L&D bowlers W Everett, Snorkle Smith and T Trembath. Sunday’s games were played under very trying conditions at times with the heavy rain. Winners for this day were L&D bowlers A Reynolds, R Durham and B Naylor who defeated M Vogel, M Lemon and D Dean from the Leeton Soldiers Club. Monday saw the pairs event being contested with two interstate teams from Ballarat playing off in the final. This game eventually being won by P Widdery and J Hogg who defeated M Storey and R Bellingham.
