Leeton shire gearing up for 2017 Group 20 grand finals

LEETON shire will have five teams featuring in this weekend’s Group 20 finals following a successful day out during Sunday’s preliminary matches.

The preliminary finals were held at Leeton’s No. 1 Oval on Sunday.

Leeton’s reserve grade team was able to seal the final spot in their division’s grand final, while Yanco-Wamoon’s Hawks were successful in getting their under 18s and under 16s over the line and through to the big dance.

However, the Greens league tag side went down on the day, ending their shot at the title.

The preliminary final results throw up many interesting match ups in this Sunday’s grand finals.

There will be not just one local derby in a premiership game, but two.

The Hawks will go up against the Greens in reserve grade and the cross-town rivalry will be on show earlier in the day when the two teams go head-to-head in the under 16s.

  • Full grand final coverage of the shire’s teams will appear in Friday’s edition of The Irrigator
